Summer Festival 2023 – Highlights in pictures

The summer season kicked off in style last week with the highly anticipated Summer Festival from Wednesday 7 to Friday 9 June 2023. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of exams and assessments, marking the conclusion of the academic year. Let’s dive into the festival highlights that made it an unforgettable experience:

Colour Fun Run
The highlight of the Summer Festival was undoubtedly the Colour Fun Run on Thursday. After a successful event in 2022, it returned this year with nearly 300 students participating in the excitement. The day was filled with vibrant colours, featuring giant inflatables including football darts and total wipeout, ice cream delights, and energetic music. Look at the highlights below and see for yourself.

Campus Highlights
Wednesday kicked off with a DIY ice cream sundae and badge-making session in the Faith and Reflection Centre, which was a hit with the scorching 28-degree weather.

Other campus highlights included the Society Showcase, where societies showed off their wonderful communities and events to the wider community, accompanied by the tempting offerings of the Redbrick Kitchen. The day concluded with the popular Foam Party at the Cube, where students danced and let loose in a foam-filled extravaganza.

Avenue Campus played host to a silent disco on Thursday, while Highfield Campus saw an evening filled with karaoke at Stag’s and a bustling night market on the Redbrick.

The final day of the festival started with a delightful community picnic, bringing together over 100 students to enjoy the sun and British picnic food. There was also mini golf outside the Arlott, adding a touch of friendly competition to the festivities. The Cube hosted Bingo Lingo, a fun twist on the classic game, while the Redbrick Kitchen returned for a live music event held on the iconic Redbrick.

More activities this summer
Summer Festival may be over, but there are still plenty of activities for you to get involved in this summer at the University. Highlights include the free Be Active summer badminton events, running every Thursday in June and July. Visit the My Southampton App to find out more.
