University appoints new Executive Director, Student Administration & Academic Affairs

The University is announcing today that Karen Omisore has been appointed as our new Executive Director, Student Administration & Academic Affairs. She will join Southampton on 2 October.

Karen, who is currently Director of Student Administration at the University of Hertfordshire, will take strategic leadership responsibility for those parts of the University that deliver the elements of the student experience relating to student administration and academic affairs, including providing support for the academic community through educational and doctoral administration. She will report to Kieron Broadhead, Senior Executive Director Students & Infrastructure, and will be a member of the Professional Services Executive Group.

With professional roots in banking, Karen worked in industry for several years before transitioning to Higher Education. Karen holds an MBA and an MSc in Systems Thinking in Practice from the Open University.

Karen commented: “I am delighted to be joining Southampton at a time of an ambitious new strategy and with a growing national and international reputation. I am very much looking forward to working with colleagues and students to provide the best possible learning experiences and build on the excellent work that I know is in place.”

Kieron Broadhead commented: “I am very excited that Karen will be joining us. She brings a wealth of experience and a track record of delivering operational excellence, a focus on continuous improvement, and of building and supporting high-performing teams.”
