Turner Sims recently opened a public exhibition, featuring works by our very own students. The exhibition, called Real Student Stories: Journeys of the Othered, launched on Friday 23 June and runs until Saturday 22 July.
Real student stories
The multi-media exhibition has been created and curated by nine of our students who come from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds to tell their educational journeys. The students, who were mentored by local artists, consultants and technicians, have a variety of backgrounds and are studying a diverse range of courses, from Business to Health Sciences. Hear more from the students involved on the Turner Sims website.
Experience the exhibition
You have until Saturday 22 July to experience the exhibition at Turner Sims, open Monday to Friday, between 10:00-17:00. Find out more about the exhibition opening times including at weekends on the Turner Sims website.
Real Student Stories project by SUSU
This exhibition has been brought to Southampton by the Real Student Stories project, created by Emily Bastable, Vice President Education and Democracy at SUSU. The aim of the project is to reflect the diversity at the University and consider the strengths of the students who find themselves navigating Higher Education.
Speaking about the exhibition, Emily said: “This exhibition features the voices and stories of nine talented students who have persevered to achieve their dream. Although they are a diverse group, their stories are connected by their talent and resilience. I am honoured to bring their stories to Southampton.”
