How to build and sustain a Community of Practice (CoP) – in-person workshop

Communities of Practice (CoPs) are increasingly becoming a format of choice to support new academic networks at the University of Southampton.

An image of two hands holding a wooden heart, with text "Building Communities of Practice Workshop: Share ideas on how to build and sustain Communities of Practice. Monday 24 July 09:00-14:00 (in-person).

This event is aimed at any University of Southampton staff who are engaged in developing academic communities of practice; particularly those who feel they have beginner or intermediate level experience in the field.

This discursive half-day ideas-sharing event aims to explore the practicalities of building and sustaining CoPs in the HE context.

This event takes place on Monday 24 July 09:00 – 14:00 and is followed by an optional lunch.

Beginning by exploring Wenger-Trayner’s theoretical definition of the CoP, the event goes on to discuss key issues in brokering, building and sustaining communities of practice, guided by chosen case studies and informed by the experiences of participants in the room.
