Modernising the Governance (MtG): New Employment Procedures SharePoint site launching on 1 August

What’s happening?

On 1 August, our new dedicated Employment Procedures SharePoint site will be going live.

Why do we need a new SharePoint site?

A refreshed set of Employment Procedures has been developed which will apply to all staff. This is because of changes to our University’s Charter and Statutes, which you recently received a letter about.

The new Employment Procedures SharePoint site will be the location of the procedures and provides a central resource to make it easier to find, read and navigate supporting guidance and information.

Which procedures are covered?

The new Employment Procedures SharePoint site covers the following:

  • Overarching Principles
  • Probation
  • Managing Sickness Absence & Ill Health
  • Grievance
  • Managing Performance
  • Disciplinary
  • Dismissal on Other Grounds
  • Redundancy
  • Appeals

What else will be on the site?

There will also be specific toolkits for:

– Early Resolution – approaches for resolving issues informally,

– Investigation – good practice for effectively investigating issues.

– Appropriate Managers / Panel Members – their role as decision-makers at formal hearings/meetings.

Do I need to do anything now?

Nothing changes until we go live on 1 August, but Line Managers may wish to start familiarising themselves with the new procedures. Any formal cases which remain in progress on 1 August will continue under the former employment procedures until their conclusion unless an agreement is made to use the new procedures. Our HR colleagues will continue to be your first stop for any queries. If you need support, always start with AskHR.

Further information on the MtG project and the key documents can be found via the MtG SharePoint site.
