This week the MtG Project has reached another milestone, with our new Governance Web Pages going live and replacing the old University Calendar.
Why are we making these changes?
The University Calendar was difficult to access, navigate and understand. The language used was overly complex, and the name “calendar” is confusing itself. Overall, it’s not up to the standard of accessibility that it needs to be.
It’s important that staff, students and others with an interest in the University can easily find information on how the University operates and how decisions are made, and the new Governance pages set out to deliver that.
What’s on the Governance Web Pages?
The Governance pages are the central source of information about how the University is run, and are the place to find:
- The University Charter and Ordinances (on 1 August, these will be updated to reflect revised versions for the 23/24 Academic Year)
- Details of how the University is structured and governed
- Information on Key People and Committees
- Regulations and policies
A lot of the content will be the same as what’s been available on the Calendar, and we will be improving navigation around the pages over time.
What if I need the 22/23 rules and regulations?
If for any reason you need to refer to regulations for the 22/23 Academic Year after new regulations go live in August, these will still be accessible in an archived form.
Is this the final version?
There’s a lot of work still going on to bring our Governance to the standard we want to achieve through this project. That means we’ll be continuing to update the content on the new pages and monitor them for performance for some time after launch.
We’ll also keep optimising and improving the site over time, guided by how people are using it and feedback from our user community.
How do we give feedback?
If you’ve got feedback or suggestions for how we can improve the new Governance Web Pages, please let us know by dropping an email to [email protected]. For further information on the MtG project, you can visit the MtG SharePoint site.
