Research Impact Events in 2022-23, run by the Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice (CHRP), have provided space for researchers from the University to collaborate with practitioners and experts by experience to design and deliver real world impact from research. The events have focused on psychologically-informed approaches to homelessness.
The half-day events included presentations from a range of partners, including experts by experience. The first event, in Southampton, invited a wide range of people to explore what homelessness research might look like and how to increase its impact. Subsequent events have been organised by collaborative groups. In Portsmouth, the theme was Health and Homelessness, with an emphasis on smoking cessation support where Public Health and local authority commissioners, along with homelessness organisational leads, were invited to co-produce policy recommendations stemming from a collaborative research project. Co-production was the theme in Brighton, with presentations on what co-production is, the language we use, how to evaluate and how to communicate across groups. Presentations and policy briefs from these events can be found on the CHRP website.
