Modernising the Governance (MtG): New Employment Procedures SharePoint site now live

What’s happening?

Following our SUSSED post of 17 July informing you what would be included on the new Employment Procedures SharePoint site, we’re pleased to announce the site is now live – providing a modern, central resource for accessing information and guidance on the University’s new employment procedures.

What do I need to do?

We really recommend visiting the new site so you can see for yourself how easy-to-use it is.

If you’re a line manager, you will need to familiarise yourself with these procedures to manage your staff appropriately. We’ll be issuing a Line Manager Briefing shortly containing more detailed guidance.

Some procedures will only be applicable in case the situation arises however the following are likely to be routinely used in your day-to-day management:

  • Probation
  • Managing Sickness and Ill Health
  • Managing Performance

You might want to consider bookmarking the page in case you need it later.

If you have an issue you need support with, our HR colleagues remain your first stop for any queries.  If you need support, always start with AskHR.

What happens if a formal procedure is already in progress?

Any formal cases which remain in progress on 01 August will continue under the former employment procedures until their conclusion unless an agreement is made to use the new procedures.

All issues arising after 1 August will be managed using the new procedures.

Is there training?

We’re updating the Line Management Development Programme (Module 2) to reflect the new procedures, and you can access self-service training on the site if you are an Investigator, Appropriate Manager or Panel member

Any questions?

The FAQs should answer a lot of questions.  If you can’t find what you’re looking for, HR colleagues will be happy to help you out. For support, please contact AskHR in the first instance.
