Take part in university-led clinical research

The NIHR Southampton Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is delivered in a longstanding partnership between the University and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.  

There are several opportunities this month for staff and their families to take part in ground-breaking clinical research studies that will improve treatments and care.

Needleless COVID-19 vaccine 

Professor Saul Faust is leading a first-in-human, needle-less vaccine study that is designed to protect against multiple coronavirus variants.  

We are looking for people who are: 

  • aged 18-50 in good health 
  • immunised with 2 or 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccine 
  • able to attend up to 11 visits 
  • have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 180 days

New treatments for COVID-19 

Do you have COVID-19 symptoms that have started within the last 5 days? 

You could be eligible to take part in the AGILE CST-8 trial, which is delivered by the university’s Southampton Clinical Trials Unit. 

This would involve trialling new, promising treatments for COVID-19, and you would also be reimbursed £650 for your time and participation. Travel expenses may also be covered.

Help us fight whooping cough 

We are currently looking for healthy participants aged between 18 – 55 years to take part in a new whooping cough study. 

The PERISCOPE C trial is led in Southampton by Professor Robert Read. 

The study participation is up to 10 weeks and participants will be compensated up to £785 for their time and travel.
