Dear Colleagues,

We have received both our provisional TEF award and our annual National Student Survey (NSS) data from the OfS this week.

The TEF outcomes will become public at the end of September and we will be able to share further details at that time.

The NSS survey has undergone some very significant changes this year, including changes to the wording of many questions, removal and addition of questions, including removal of the ‘overall satisfaction’ score, changes to the response options and the loss of the ‘neither agree not disagree’ option for all questions.

The data will need to be considered in relation to benchmarks rather than comparing absolute scores to last year’s results because of these very substantial changes. It is important that we have an institutional ‘single source of truth’ and so the Policy and Insights team will be working hard to provide a useful and full analysis at University, Faculty and Subject level. These details will be shared as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Deborah Gill
