Make time to write in CHEP’s Power Hour of Writing sessions

The Centre of Higher Education (CHEP) have been running Power Hour of Writing sessions since January 2022 and have supported over 180 staff members in moving forward with their writing goals.

“Made some progress and above all good to get back in touch with the materials. Thanks so much, Rosie, and look forward to the next one!”

“I made some progress. I’ve got a chapter structure and two paragraphs.”

“Good progress this morning – on a roll so may keep going!”

“Good progress on one work package, but also identified lots of places I need to do more work or find things out!”

These online sessions take place every Monday and Thursday between 09:00 – 10:30, except for bank holidays or University closure days. Each session starts promptly, with an opportunity to share your goal for the hour with the group before mics and cameras are turned off for individual writing. We come back together at the end of the session to share our achievements.

If you need to write, or complete a task to support your writing, but you just can’t find the time or motivation, then this could be the time and space that you need.  There is no pressure or expectation, but plenty of encouragement and the support of fellow struggling writers!

Have a look at the Power Hour of Writing SharePoint page for more details. You can register on Staffbook but as Staffbook will only let you sign up for one at a time, the meeting links are available on the Teams channel (look for the pinned posts in the Events channel). You are welcome to attend as many as you like.
