The University of Southampton continues to develop its ambitious estates plan to improve our campuses to create the optimum environment for students to learn, world-class research to take place, and to enable collaboration and innovation with businesses and other stakeholders. Further information on this plan can be found on Estates Strategic Plan SharePoint page.
One of the next steps within this plan is the development of the North East Quadrant (NEQ) of our Highfield Campus, a key development zone for the University located on the corner of Burgess Road and Broadlands Road.
You can find information about the proposals for the site at www.soton.ac.uk/neq, the plans are in the early stages and the University intends on consulting again in the Autumn once all feedback has been received.
The new buildings on this site will house new teaching and learning facilities, bookable rooms, collaborative teaching spaces and a café as well as cycle storage and a significant improvement to the landscaping and pedestrian routes.
In developing plans for the NEQ, we have had to carefully consider the current space and its usage as the Broadlands Road Car Park. After conducting examination of usage across our estate, including Hampton Park, Avenue Campus Car Park, spaces at Boldrewood including the Multi-Storey Car Park previously used by Lloyd’s register and the recently opened South Broadlands Car Park, we have determined that the University has sufficient parking opportunities available for staff across our campuses.
As a valued member of our staff community, your feedback is important to us, if you have any thoughts on this project that you would like to share with our team, please reach out to us via email at [email protected]
