There are two working weeks left for you to complete your appraisal

The appraisal conversation window will close on Friday 15 September 2023. All appraisals and PPDRs must be completed by this date.

Appraisals are changing for all staff

During the appraisal discussion

  • Review your contribution for the last appraisal period. The process for doing this will vary slightly depending on your Level:
    • for staff at Levels 1-3, you must complete your PPDR and document your progress for the past appraisal year by Friday 15 September 2023. Note that this will be the last time you use the PPDR.
    • for staff at Levels 4-7, you must complete the online appraisal form ending 31 July 2023 and select one of the new contribution descriptors to summarise your overall contribution (see the following the conversation guidance for tips on recording your overall contribution descriptors and notes). All Levels 4-7 appraisal forms must be submitted by Friday 15 September 2023.
  • All staff should discuss their personal development, career aspirations, and agree objectives for the upcoming year and record these in the online appraisal form in MyView for 1 August 2023-31 July 2024.

Second line reviewer consistency checks

The second line reviewer process will vary slightly depending on your Level:

  • For staff at Level’s 4-7, a “consistency check” will be carried out by the Second Line Reviewer (usually the appraiser’s Line Manager) once the appraisal has been submitted. The Second Line Reviewer must input a confirmed contribution descriptor before authorising the appraisal. Please see the Second Line Reviewer guidance here.
  • For staff at Levels 1-3, the completed PPDR should be sent to the second line reviewer as per the outgoing PPDR process by Friday 15 September 2023.

Once appraisals and PPDRs have been submitted, second line reviewers must complete consistency checks by the 15 October 2023.

If you have queries about the appraisal process and how it applies to you, please either:
