The UK has associated to the world’s most ambitious research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe. Association means UK-based researchers and innovators can participate to Horizon Europe funding opportunities, including coordinating projects, on the same terms as EU-based applicants, from the 2024 Work Programmes onwards including any 2024 calls opening this year.
With a €95.5 billion budget for the period 2021-27, the scale of research supported by Horizon Europe helps deliver scientific breakthroughs, new technologies and advances to improve lives and address global challenges, keeping the EU at the forefront of global research and innovation.
Professor Mark Spearing, Vice-President Research and Enterprise, welcomed the long-awaited news: “Horizon Europe transcends national borders and is an excellent mechanism to promote international collaboration at a scale that allows exciting scientific progress, in ways that are difficult to achieve with purely national funding.”
