The University has retained a top 20 UK universities spot in both The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, at 17th, and the Guardian University Guide 2024, at 20th. These rankings follow our placing at 17th in the Complete University Guide earlier in the year, and together are testament to the skill and dedication of everyone across our University community.
The Times and Sunday Times guide also places Southampton in second place in the South East region, with only the University of Oxford placed higher.
The Guardian University Guide 2024 includes 41 of our subjects and nine made it into top 10 subject rankings, with our Midwifery ranked first and our Electrical and Electronic Engineering in third. The others are:

We also feature in the new Daily Mail University Guide 2024 where we are ranked 21st out of the 128 institutions featured and were singled out for our strong record on social inclusion and quality research. Progression rate – the number of students who continued at the university after their first year – is our best ranked metric among sector and competitors ranking 13th and third respectively.
