The way we read and use the printed book collection at the Hartley Library has fundamentally changed. To reflect this, books will either be retained, sent to our new conservation grade offsite store, or deaccessioned over the coming academic year. We would like your help to make sure that books we keep are what you want and need.
The Collections Development and Discovery project (CDD), has a Sharepoint site which explains our rationale which is underpinned by a detailed methodology and data analysis, and also how you can engage with us. Please watch this video for an explanation of the methodology.
CDD will improve how we organise the books we keep; making them easier to find as well as conserving them. It will also allow us to create more accessible spaces for everyone to use at the Hartley Library.
We have a detailed timeline with discrete 6 week consultation periods so you can see when the library will be reviewing your subject area. We are currently attending school meetings to talk through this timeline; but if you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQs or would like us to come to talk to your school about the data/methodology or anything else, then please contact [email protected].
There is a drop-in session on the 26 September at 13:00, you can meet our Senior Data Analyst James Howells. Everyone welcome – no need to book, just come to the Hartley Library helpdesk at 13:00.
