We are delighted that Karen Omisore will be joining us on Monday 2 October as our new Executive Director, Student Administration & Academic Affairs. Karen will be responsible for student administration and academic affairs, including providing support to the academic community through education and doctoral administration. She will report to Kieron Broadhead, Senior Executive Director and Deputy Vice-President (Operations), and will be a member of the Professional Services Executive Group.

We have also recently been joined by Sue Littlemore, our new Director of Civic and Arts. Sue is based within Research and Innovation Services, reporting to Lorna Colquhoun, Executive Director of RIS, and working very closely with Professor Jane Falkingham, Vice-President Engagement & International. She will play a key role in co-ordinating and promoting the breadth of civic, arts and culture activity already underway across the University, and ensuring successful delivery of our Civic Strategic Plan and the Civic University Agreements signed earlier this year with our five local Councils.

Amanda Procter has been appointed to the post of Director of Global Recruitment and Admissions, reporting to David Winstanley, Executive Director Student Life, and took up her new role last week. She joins from the Engagement & Advancement directorate, where she has been Associate Director Research & Enterprise Marketing (REM). The REM team will also be moving to Global Recruitment & Admissions next week, which means all our marketing teams will support our faculties from the same place under single leadership.

Helen Rowland has taken up the role of Director of Student Support, this is a change to her substantive role and recognises the importance of providing coordinated high quality support to our growing and diverse student population. Helen leads our 24/7 wellbeing and disability support teams and also plays a leading role in our work to make the University as accessible as possible.

Following Cathy Day’s retirement in July, Peter Adams has been appointed as Director of Health & Safety, following a period as interim Director. He reports to Kieron Broadhead, who assumed responsibility for Health, Safety & Risk in July.

Finally, this week we say farewell to Simon Peatfield, who is leaving us after 14 years as Director of Communications and Marketing.

Wendy Appleby, Vice-President (Operations), commented:

“These appointments will all play a direct role in our work to deliver high quality services to the University, ensuring the successful delivery of our triple-helix University Strategy and our Organisational Excellence strategic plan.

“I would also like to thank Simon for his commitment and contribution to the University over many years, and for the key role he has played in our communications, marketing and business continuity situations. We are very grateful to him, and we wish him well in the future.”
