Introducing Digital Capability event: developing digital skills and capabilities within an HE perspective

The Centre for Higher Education Practice (CHEP) will be hosting an event on Thursday 12 October (12:00-13:00) where Dr Becki Vickerstaff (Higher Education Senior Consultant at JISC) will be introducing digital capabilities, outlining why they are important and discussing the sector direction.

It will be of interest to anyone working and studying within Higher Education, whether they are in a Teaching, Research or Professional Services role. 

About this event 

We will explore the research-informed key skills and priorities, summarised in the JISC six areas of digital capability model and how this contributes to developing agile digital transferable skills for both the workplace and personal life. The discovery tool will be introduced, and examples shown of how it can support and develop a digitally confident institution. 

The session will include: 

  • What is digital capability? 
  • Why does it matter? 
  • Sector temperature on digital skills 
  • Student digital skills 
  • Jisc digital capability framework 
  • Realistic expectations on embedding digital skills 
  • Time for you to ask any questions
