Seasonal illnesses and COVID – October 2023

We know that cases of seasonal illnesses including colds, flu and COVID often rise around this time of year and would like to remind you of our current guidance around respiratory illnesses.

Our current measures and guidance for both staff and students remain unchanged:

  • Please stay at home if you feel unwell. You can go back to your normal activities when you feel better or do not have a high temperature.
  • If you have access to lateral flow tests and test positive for COVID, the NHS recommends you stay at home for 5 days after the day you took your test.
  • Maintain good hand hygiene – this is a simple precaution we can all take to help prevent the spread of illnesses.
  • Wearing face coverings in our buildings is a matter of personal choice. Please continue to be respectful and considerate of those that choose to wear them – each individual circumstance will be different.
  • We encourage all our community to get vaccinated against flu and COVID if you are eligible.

Should any changes to our guidance or measures be required, we will update colleagues and students accordingly.

For students:

Please let The Student Hub, or your Personal Academic Tutor know if you are unwell and will be missing teaching. You can also log an illness on MyEngagement.
