Update on UK’s association to Horizon Europe

The European Commission and the UK Government reached an agreement in principle on the association of the UK to Horizon Europe and Copernicus on 7 September 2023. This means:

For calls from 2024 Work Programmes and onwards: UK researchers will be able to participate in the Horizon Europe programme on the same terms as researchers and organisations from EU Member States, including leading consortia. This also includes 2024 calls opening and/or closing this year such as ERC Consolidator Grants and ERC Synergy Grants 2024 calls.

For calls from 2023 Work Programmes: UK researchers can still apply as if the UK were already an Associated Country at the point of application (Beneficiary) but will be treated as a Third Country at the point of award, so UK researchers cannot lead consortia and their funding will be covered by the UK Guarantee Fund.
