Last week we reported that our University had made it through to the finals of the UK Social Mobility Awards (SOMOs), and we are now thrilled to announce that we have received a Gold award (Highly Commended) in the University of the Year category, for the second year running.
Gino Graziano, Director of Widening Participation and Social Mobility, said “I am so pleased and proud of our University for achieving the Gold Award again this year. This award is testament to the dedication, commitment and care delivered by colleagues across the University, to make the future of Higher Education a fairer place for all.”
The UK Social Mobility Awards are about making the advancement of social mobility a key part of how organisations are run in the UK. They are a unique set of awards that have been established to recognise and encourage action that will promote and increase social mobility within Britain’s companies and institutions. These awards recognise best practice and innovation and celebrate excellence and achievement and elevate social mobility as a cause equal to the level of other diversity issues.
