Work has begun to install new electric vehicle charging points across our campuses. The existing 10 charging points will be replaced and 12 additional points will be installed, making a total of 22.
The new provider, Pod Point, has an easy to use app available to iPhone and Android users. Staff can simply download the App and log in using their University email address and follow the instructions in the user guide to charge their vehicle. If you have external visitors who require access to a charger, please let the parking team know via [email protected] and they will be happy to register their address to enable them to use the system.
We will be installing charging points across Highfield, Avenue, Winchester and Boldrewood campuses over the coming months and they will be ready to use at the start of December.
The Salisbury Road charging points are installed and are available for use to staff. You can see their location on the map below, highlighted in green. (Click on map to enlarge).
Once installation is complete you will be able to see all the locations of electric vehicle charging points and more information about parking, on our parking webpages. Our campus maps system will also show all locations.
The increase in electric vehicle provision is another step towards the University’s ambitious plan to target net zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and to have substantially reduced our Scope 3 emissions by 2030. It comes under goal 1 and 2 of the Sustainability Strategic Plan which is made up of six key goals that we can all play a part in achieving.
