Southampton Sport, SUSU and the Student Engagement team are proud to announce their finalist status for the UK Active Awards. We will be in the running for the Physical Activity Excellence Award on Thursday 26 October, showing an outstanding commitment to offer diverse and inclusive opportunities to get active at the university.
At Southampton Sport, our motto is ‘Active for All’. This is something we truly aspire to achieve by providing opportunities for all our students. Our welcoming and committed team continue ensure that each and every student is offered the opportunity to have an excellent experience in sport or physical activity, providing an offering that suits everyone.
With a continuous focus on inclusivity and engaging events, the university has created an environment that fosters physical activity and promotes well-being. Additionally, the university/SUSU have further organised an array of inclusive events through their Be Active & Give It A Go programs. Students have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of inclusive sports, such as sitting volleyball and Boccia, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie whilst removing the financial barriers to participation.
In collaboration with the SUSU and the Student Engagement team, Southampton Sport has developed an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion commitment statement with support of other services, ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, gender, abilities etc. feel supported and included in leading active lives.
Our commitment to inclusivity, specific-focused programs, and inclusive events, supports the messaging that all students have the opportunity to be physically active.
