Academic Professional Development workshops – November 2023

There are lots of workshops during November to support learning, teaching, research and KEE academic development that are open to all staff. Not all are listed here so visit the November CHEP events listings page for the full listings.

Education focused 

1 November – Peer review: what it is and how it can help your students
Dr Alison Daniell and Dr Josh Robertson from FEPS, will discuss a pilot peer review project.

8 November – Using the Jisc Discovery Tool
A chance to try out the Discovery Tool’s ’Teaching in HE’ questionnaire.   

21 & 23 November – PAT Training: Supporting disabled students
The Student Disability and Inclusion team will discuss a variety of support and services aimed at helping disabled students.   

Friday 24 November – Success on the Education Focused Promotion Pathway
Aimed at education-focused academic staff this will explore how to succeed on the Education Promotion Pathway.  

Thursday 30 November – Facilitation Techniques for Engaging Seminars and Classes
Basic facilitation techniques to get students talking in seminars. 

 

Researcher / KEE focused  

Every Monday and Thursday – Power Hour of Writing
If you have something to write, or even a task to complete to support your writing, this is the space you need.   

Various dates – Introduction to Research Computing 

Develop data management skills needed to produce reliable, sustainable, and reproducible research software.  

Various dates – Excel Seminars 

Develop data-handling skills with this series of online workshops focusing on using Microsoft Excel. 

Tuesday 21 November – Imposter Syndrome Workshop with Jo Clift
Conquer imposter syndrome in this Public Policy workshop led by Jo Clift, a Policy Engagement and personal development coach. 

Tuesday 28 November – KEE Coffee Break
Meet other network members and pick up on key discussion points from the October KEE CoP session.
