The PGR Development team in CHEP are looking to produce some resources to inform and inspire our cohort of postgraduate researchers (PGRs).
Read on to find out about two opportunities for academic staff to get involved in.
Academic career stories
The team are looking to develop a resource for PGRs who are interested in pursuing an academic career. The idea is to film interviews with academic colleagues who have a doctoral degree, so you can tell your story from your doctorate to where you are now.
It’s hoped that the interviews will help PGRs to understand the nature and demands of different academic jobs, how academic career paths can vary and how to take the first step on an academic career path.
Ideally we’d like to include colleagues at every career stage – from ECRs to Professors – as well as colleagues who have experience on recruitment panels.
Panel session on journal editing
The team are looking for journal editors (or former editors) to be part of a panel session on journal editing. Colleagues with experience of journal editing are invited to talk about the publication process from the editors’ perspective, give advice on which journals to target and outline common reasons for acceptance and rejection.
Ideally the team are looking to run dedicated panels for each faculty. The panels would take place online and be no longer than 90 minutes.
If you’d be interested in helping with either of these projects, please contact Ross English in CHEP: [email protected].
