Screening the Social: Beyond the Documentary is a new online film festival, taking place between 13 and 24 November 2023 and showcasing cutting-edge ways of using the moving image in social research.
The festival is being organised by Dr Laura Harris, a Southampton Anniversary Fellow, with Dr Lena Theodoropoulou of the University of Liverpool. The programme will feature films with a variety of disciplinary, stylistic and methodological characters, celebrating the creative breadth of filmmaking as a field of research practice.
The event is free to access and will include both film screenings and panel discussions. Attendees will able to watch all the films at any time during the two-week festival period.
The event is being funded by the National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM), which is based in the Faculty of Social Sciences, and engage@Liverpool.
