As we look forward to Trans Awareness Week starting on the Monday 13 November, the Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network invites staff and PGRs to join the LGBTQ+ Safe Listening Space on Wednesday 15 November, from 13:00-14:00.
Trans Awareness Week is a week when transgender people and their allies take action to bring attention to the community by educating the public about who transgender people are, sharing stories and experiences, and advancing advocacy.
Our Safe Listening Space provides an opportunity for a confidential, open discussion focused on lived experience in a safe environment. It will be held via Teams, and sessions will not be recorded to protect the confidentiality of attendees. Key themes from the session may be anonymously shared with the EDI team and staff network to support future work.
Introducing our facilitators

If you would like to join the session, please register via MS Teams.
If you have any questions about the session, please reach out to the Diversity team by emailing [email protected].
We look forward to listening to you.
Awareness, allyship and support
Trans Awareness Week is a great opportunity to learn more about what it means to be trans or non-binary, and how to be an ally. We have lots of resources to help:
- Join the Pulse LGBT+ Staff Network in raising the Trans flag on Monday 13 November at 09:30 at the Jubilee Plaza.
- Make sure you’ve completed the mandatory EDI Briefing. If you’ve done that, then try the follow-up Managing Diversity course.
- We have ‘bitesize learning’ on LGBTQ+ Inclusion.
- Read our toolkit on LGBTQ+ Inclusive Language and using pronouns.
- Explore the LGBTQ+ Voices reading list, curated by the Hartley Library.
- Beyond Reflections is a local charity supporting trans, non-binary and questioning adults.
