Inter Faith Week 2023 – What’s On

Inter Faith Week 2023 will take place in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland from Sunday 12 to Sunday 19 November. The week was established to strengthen inter faith relations across the community, increase awareness of the different and distinct faith communities across the UK and increase understanding between people of all faith and non-religious beliefs.

The Parkes Institute, Faith and Reflection Centre and the Faith Staff Network invite you to activities across the week.

Faith and Mental Health

Monday 13 November, 18:00-19:00, Building 100, Room 5017

The sense of spirituality is hugely varied. For some people it is a private and individual matter. Others express their beliefs within an established group or religion.

In this talk, Dr Aiman Alzetani, the Muslim Faith Advisor explores some ways in which spirituality, in whatever form, can find its place when considering our mental wellbeing.

As part of Inter Faith week this event is open to students and staff of all faiths and none.

Annual Inter Faith Lecture – Another Fateful Triangle: Jews, Muslims, Europe

Tuesday 14 November, 18:00, Avenue Campus (Lecture Theatre C, 65/1175) & Online via Zoom

In this talk, Elisabeth Becker invokes Stuart Hall’s concept of a “fateful triangle”, turning to the intersection of Jewish, Muslim, and European identities, specifically highlighting the ways in which Jewish-Muslim intersections shape European societies: both in terms of contemporary life and in terms of collective memory.

This is a hybrid event, meaning you can attend in-person at Avenue Campus or online via Zoom.
