The Web Science Institute has been granted £80,000 for its Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise (KEE) Fund for 2023-24 from the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) allocated to the University by HEFCE. In this call for WSI KEE funding the focus is on interdisciplinary socio-technical projects in, on, or, with Artificial Intelligence (AI). These include collaborative projects with business, industry, local government, public sector or charitable organisations, community bodies, and the wider public. Projects may involve:
- Developing and maturing new technologies, ideas and inventions
- Co-creation of innovation
- Translation of research
- Commercialisation for social good initiatives
- Activities which contribute to levelling up/ civic agenda
- Placements and secondments
- CPD and external skills development
- Projects focusing on EDI
Funding
Successful projects will be awarded funding normally within the range of £5k to £15k. Projects may start 1 December 2023 but must end 31 July 2024.
Project criteria
All funded projects should fulfil the following criteria:
- Knowledge of and commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to AI.
- The type and extent of knowledge exchange and enterprise engagement.
- Alignment with relevant University Strategic Plans.
- Impact and future collaboration potential.
