Southampton Sport, SUSU and the Student Engagement team were crowned winners of the Physical Activity Excellence Award in the UK Active Awards held on 26 October 2023.
The UK Active Awards recognise the very best of the physical activity sector, celebrating those driving inclusion, innovation and transformation.

“I am so proud of Southampton Sport, who have worked collaboratively with SUSU, and Engagement colleagues, along with many others, to win the Physical Activity Excellence Award at the National UK Active Awards. With a continuous focus on inclusivity, they have created an environment that fosters physical activity and promotes student wellbeing. Ensuring that all students, regardless of their background or abilities, feel supported and included in leading active lives is a key driver for the teams. With new facilities set to come online next year, this achievement marks a fantastic milestone for sport and active participation at the University of Southampton. We are very much looking forward to continuing to develop sport and active lifestyles at Southampton, and truly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to move more and get active! I would also like to take this opportunity to praise Kings College London, Loughborough University and the University of Surrey, who were also finalists for this award.”
