Appraisal objectives

We are just over three months into the 2023/2024 appraisal period, which runs from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024.

Please ensure that you have added your objectives to your online appraisal form for this year. You can find guidance and support on how to add your objectives to your appraisal form by following on the MyView user guide SharePoint.

Please note: once you have added your objectives, press ‘Save’ – please do not submit or authorise 2023/2024 appraisal forms as these need to remain open until the summer 2024 appraisal conversation window.

SMART objectives

We recommend that your objectives are SMART.

As an appraiser, we recommend that you have regular one-to-one meetings booked in with your appraisees, and you may find it helpful to meet for a mid- year discussion to check how they are progressing with their objectives.

As an appraisee, we recommend that you review your appraisal objectives regularly and consider what has progressed or changed, what you might want to add or amend. Talk this through with your manager, and following any discussion, update your appraisal form to ensure it is up to date.

Training and resources

There are plenty of useful workshops and online resources to support you in achieving your objectives – you can find out more by visiting the Leadership & Management Development SharePoint site.

You can find additional support around appraisals at our dedicated Appraisal SharePoint site.
