Staff and PGRs who have been affected by the menopause are invited to join the Menopause Safe Listening Space on Wednesday 13 December between 10.00 and 11.00 on Microsoft Teams.
This Safe Listening Space will be facilitated by Libby Barton, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Specialist and Menopause Working Group Member, and Claire Buchan, Health and Safety Officer for Wellbeing (pictured above) and Menopause Working Group Members.
Women between the age of 45 and 55 are most typically impacted by menopause or perimenopause symptoms. However, it is important to recognise that some women may experience these symptoms at different stages and that trans and non-binary people can also be affected. Menopausal symptoms can include hot flushes, brain fog, mood swings, anxiety, and irregular periods. These symptoms can have a significant impact on people in the workplace.
The University Menopause Working Group is a sub -group of the Staff Wellbeing Working Group working to improve the experience of those impacted by menopause. Menopause Safe Listening Spaces provide an opportunity for confidential, open discussion focused on lived experience in a safe environment. Sessions will not be recorded to protect the confidentially of attendees. Any key themes arising from the sessions will be anonymously shared with the working group to support future work to create a more inclusive University community.
If you would like to find out more or book at place, please email [email protected].
Safe Listening Spaces provide a space for open discussion of lived experience rather than for sharing professional or expert knowledge. If you would like to enhance your knowledge on menopause, then training and resources are available for all staff.
