Future Leaders Fellowship scheme – call for internal Expressions of Interest

The Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF) scheme is UKRI’s flagship programme to develop and sustain research and innovation talents in the UK. The scheme supports exceptional early career researchers with an innovative research vision and with the potential to become research leaders within the timeframe of the fellowship.

Round 9 of the FLF has been pre-announced by UKRI and will open on 29 February 2024. The scheme is highly competitive, and the University of Southampton is limited to submitting six candidates. An internal selection process is now open to help identify the six individuals that will be supported to submit applications. For further information about the Future Leaders Fellowships, please visit the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships website.

How to apply

If you are interested in applying for FLF Round 9, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) to the internal selection process. The EOI comprises:

  • EoI form (which contains sections on their research and development plans)
  • 2-page CV and publication list
  • Up to 5-minute video presentation about why they are suitable candidates and what the award will help them to achieve

The EOI must be submitted using Worktribe, by 16:00 on Wednesday 31 January.

Please note there are specific instructions that must be followed to ensure that EOIs are successfully submitted. Full details of the EOI process, with a step-by-step guide to making your submission can be found on the our FLF Round 9 Sharepoint page. Candidates should familiarise themselves with the EOI process well in advance of the deadline.
