Led by Professor Les Carr, Deputy Director of the Web Science Institute and stand-up comedian, researchers will learn why comedy is useful to Public Engagement and Knowledge Exchange activities. They will be taught some basic stand-up comedy skills and have the opportunity to practice them to start telling accessible and engaging stories about their research.
By the end of the session researchers will begin to develop an eight minute-long research-inspired comedy which they’ll perform at the popular Science Comedy night at October Books, Portswood in February.
You can read an interview with Professor Les Carr in the February issue of Staff Matters.
