As Universities are limited to one application as principal applicant, the University will run an internal selection process to identify a possible research centre to put forward to the call. Researchers interested in this call should discuss their idea with their Associate Deans Research prior to submitting an Expression of Interest (max. 3 sides of A4) by Friday 16 February using Worktribe. Details of what to include in your Worktribe project are included below.

Given the Trust’s requirements and considering the University’s strategic research priorities, we particularly encourage proposals that:

  • are innovative,
  • speak to an area of interdisciplinary strength across multiple Faculties, and
  • over time has the potential to become an international research centre of excellence and attract funding from both national and international sources.

The decision on the institutional proposal will be made by Professor Mark Spearing, Vice-President Research and Enterprise, assisted by members of the Research and Enterprise Executive Group (REEG) including the VPs Interdisciplinary Research. Shortlisted teams will be invited to present and discuss their proposed research centre towards the end of February, and a decision will be made shortly thereafter.
