Friday 2 February 18:00-21:00 sees the return of Blackout, a key energy saving and sustainability event run by our Environment and Sustainability team to analyse the University’s energy usage and wastage.
Reducing our energy usage and emissions is a critical part of our Sustainability Strategic Plan and the team is looking for staff to help facilitate the event.
The event will consist of groups of 3-4 staff and students going around selected buildings and monitoring what equipment such as monitors, computers, lights, heaters and other electrical items have been left on in offices and common learning spaces. Other than lights, no equipment will be turned off. The buildings signed up this year are: 65 (Parkes building), 44 (Shackleton), 15 (Wolfson/Rayleigh), 58 (Murray), 4 (Law) and 32 (EEE building).
The Environment and Sustainability team are looking for staff volunteers familiar with the buildings who are willing to help with the audit. If you are interested please contact [email protected]. The team is also looking for students to participate in the event, who can sign up via Microsoft Forms.
