Self-awareness is a key contributor to both leadership and navigating opportunities as you define and build a successful career that works for you. It is core to our Southampton Behaviours, which outline the responsibility we each have in working collaboratively to achieve our strategy, and also underpins many of the attributes described in the national Researcher Development Framework.
Develop from Within is a three-part online course being offered by CHEP to support early to mid-career academics with responsibility for research. The programme is designed to grow your self-awareness and allow you to apply it in professional and personal areas that matter to you. It is organised into small cohorts of a maximum of 8 per group to give you the best opportunity to explore your engagement with others, and your response to changes in and around you.
Reasons to take part:
- Grow your self-awareness by reflecting on your behaviour preferences
- Become more conscious about where your behaviour preferences are moving you forward, and where they might be holding you back
- Build awareness on how your preferences will influence your leadership.

The first cohort starts on Thursday 29 February, with other start dates available up to July 2024. Places are fully funded through the UKRI Enhancing Research Culture funding and would normally cost around £400 per person.
