Helping to build a safer community – Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week

Trigger warning: This article contains material on sexual violence, abuse and harassment, which may be triggering or upsetting.

We each have a responsibility to contribute towards building a community that is welcoming, secure, and inclusive. This week is Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week (6th-12th February), we want to help empower you to understand boundaries and respect those of others, as well as gain a better understanding of consent and healthy relationships in all, and every form.

Consent training

Our community stands against all forms of harassment, and one way that we ask you to stand with us is by taking the opportunity to gain a healthy and positive understanding of consent.

Please make sure you complete our compulsory consent training course on Blackboard. It should take no longer than fifteen minutes, and you’ll have the chance to win a £100 IKEA voucher once complete unless you choose to opt out of the monthly prize draw.

Support

Report and Support offers resources and support specifically for those impacted by sexual misconduct, harassment, and domestic abuse, as well as a reporting tool for any form of bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abuse. Visit the page to learn more.

Yellow Door offer a wide range of specialist therapeutic, support and prevention services to anyone impacted by sexual violence.

SUSU strives to be an open, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone, but should something concern you, use the SUSU Clubs and Societies reporting form if you need to report an incident or concerning behaviour. This is an anonymous process and your details will not be shared.
