CHEP’s training programme offers key support for Personal Academic Tutors

The role of a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) is crucial for academic success and student support. Effective PATs play a key role in promoting student persistence, success, and addressing differential attainment. The PAT Training Programme, managed by CHEP in collaboration with various colleagues, offers upcoming training workshops to enhance skills and support for PATs.

Introduction to Widening Participation – 13 March

Gain an overview of our widening participation student population and discuss how you can ensure your practices are inclusive, accessible, and supportive for students of all backgrounds.  By analysing the data from across the sector, you will explore why barriers might exist and how they could be alleviated through inclusive practice and intervention.

Wellbeing Workshops for Personal Academic Tutors to Manage Stressful Student Situations – 20 March or 17 April.

As a Personal Academic Tutor, one of your students may confide in you with personal information and it can be a stressful experience dealing with traumatic and sensitive information. This workshop offers you practical tips that can be incorporated into practice and you will be given the opportunity to explore scenarios and identify unhelpful thinking.

‘This workshop helped me understand how to see situations more broadly and reflect on my own and student responses.’

‘We were given the opportunity to explore relevant scenario’s and identify unhelpful thinking.’

Please book your place via Staffbook (type PAT in the search box)
