2024/25 Interdisciplinary Research Pump-Priming Fund Call is now open for applications. The fund will support activities to underpin future research proposals, including relationship building. Although there is no restriction on the amount of funding that may be requested, it is expected that typically proposals will be for less than £10k.
Funding may be used to enable pump-priming that will lay the groundwork for future interdisciplinary activity and to facilitate:
- Networking meetings and other events to develop interdisciplinary projects;
- Small pump-priming projects to generate preliminary data for future research;
- Capacity-building (discipline-hopping);
It is expected that the outcomes of pump-priming activities will inform more substantive research for which external funding will be sought.
Please note: Projects that lie wholly within the remit of one the University Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Institutes (Southampton Marine & Maritime Institute, Web Sciences Institute, Sustainability and Resilience Institute and Institute for Life Sciences) are not eligible, and support should be sought instead from the relevant Institute.
The available funding period is 1 August 2024 until 31 July 2025.
