Obituary: Chris Richardson

We are sad to announce the death of our well-loved colleague Chris Richardson. The University flag will be lowered to half mast today in his memory.

Chris was a highly respected member of the Business Applications Support team, a friend and a colleague who leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and generosity.

With his quick wit and infectious humour, Chris brought joy to every interaction, making even the most mundane tasks feel lighter. His eagerness to lend a helping hand and his willingness to volunteer for any task showed his selflessness and dedication to the team. His knowledge and dedication will be sorely missed by all.

Chris was an avid American football fan and supporter of the Miami Dolphins, as well as enjoying board games with friends, and he loved going to Warhammer World in Nottingham and exploring the exhibition hall. He was also active in the iSolutions Arts & Crafts community, always sharing his latest projects and asking for recommendations for new hobbies.

Chris was diagnosed with cancer in February 2022, but made sure he continued to live his life with a smile, and was married last year to his American boyfriend, Rob.

Mal Allerton, Executive Director of iSolutions said “Chris joined us in May 2018 and during his time at the University, he made a lasting impression on all of us. He will be missed for his energy and memes, particularly by his BAS team, we feel privileged to have known him, worked with him, and called him our friend. He would have been 40 this August and we send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

The family welcome donations to Hampshire Mountbatten Hospice in his memory.
