Appraisals support and training

The 2023-24 appraisal conversation window opens on 1 June 2024.

All staff will have their appraisals in the same fifteen-week period between 1 June and 15 September and will record their appraisal discussions on the online appraisal forms.

A wide range of training and resources are available to support staff and to enable them to fulfil their role in the appraisal process.  Please look through the resources below to identify those that will best support you.

Appraisals : Question and Answer Session This session provides the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about Appraisals and you will hear about what you can do to get ready for your 2024 appraisal conversations.

Appraising with Confidence

 

This practical workshop supports all aspects of appraisal; including how to prepare for and hold meaningful two-way conversations.

Assessing Contribution

 

 

This interactive workshop, aimed at appraisers of staff at levels 1-3, will help you to use the contribution descriptors fairly and consistently.

I am an experienced appraiser

Appraising with Confidence: Facilitated Discussion This session is for Levels 6-7 appraisers who are new to the University and will draw on your previous experience of being an appraiser to equip you to hold quality appraisal conversation.

Second-Line Reviewer e-learning This eLearning will guide second line reviewers through their role in the appraisal process.
Second-Line Reviewer Q&A

 

This session provides the opportunity for Second-Line Reviewers to ask any questions around the purpose of consistency checks, the role that unconscious biases may play in our decision-making processes and what they can do to get ready for the appraisal window.
