Let your memorable summer begin with Be Active Games and the Colour Fun Run

Save the date for the most vibrant summer event at the University – the brand new Be Active Games, featuring the annual Colour Fun Run, are taking place on Thursday 6 June from 11:00 at Wide Lane Sports Ground.

To celebrate the end of the academic year and mark the start of summer in an active way, the Be Active Games are a collection of fun, social sports you can get involved in for free. To top it all off, you can also take part in the Colour Fun Run, an event unlike any other at the University.

With medals for anyone who finishes the run or takes part in a game, free transport to and from Wide Lane, and barbecue food and ice cream provided (limited availability), the Be Active Games and Colour Fun Run is a memorable day for everyone to enjoy.

Be Active Games

Whether you want to find a new sport you like, do something you already enjoy in a different outdoor setting, or simply unwind with a game or two, the Be Active Games have something for you. You can enjoy one or more of the following sports from 11:00 on the day:

  • Table tennis
  • Pickle ball
  • Walking football
  • Netball
  • Touch rugby

The games are open to everyone, regardless of levels of experience and ability, as an opportunity to get moving and have fun with other students. You can either sign up as a team and bring friends, or join by yourself and we will form the teams for you.

Colour Fun Run

The highlight of the day is the third annual Colour Fun Run. Starting from 13:00, you can run or walk the 3km course at your own pace, and you will be provided with coloured powder to throw en route. The first 50 attendants will receive a white branded T-shirt on arrival, ready to soak up the colours.

How to get involved

If you would like to take part in the Be Active Games, the Colour Fun Run, or both, you can register via Eventbrite

If you register, you will receive a dayrider ticket to help you get to Wide Lane and back on a UniLink bus. Please note, if you are planning on doing the Colour Fun Run and taking the bus after, you will need to bring a change of clothes. There will be toilets and changing rooms at Wide Lane available for you to do this, as well as a space where you can drop off your bag.
