The 22nd annual Festival of Social Science will be returning 19 October – 9 November this year, with the University of Southampton taking part for the sixth time. The call for applications is open – please submit by Thursday 16 May.
The main theme for this year’s festival is ‘Our Digital Lives’, events on this theme can be on any aspect of the relationship between humans and digital technology.
This is an excellent opportunity for researchers to take part in the UK’s biggest celebration of social science research and engage with a wide range of non-academic audiences including young people, the public, the third sector, businesses or government.
For the second year, Bournemouth University and the University of Southampton are collaborating to run an extended programme of events for this year’s festival, broadening our impact reach and expanding our networks across Dorset and Hampshire.
We are particularly keen to hear from researchers who have already established collaborations with Bournemouth colleagues and may wish to run a joint event.
Alongside this year’s festival there is an opportunity to take part in an event celebrating Social Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts on Saturday 9 November in Southampton City Centre. This is a joint event in collaboration with Southampton’s Public Engagement with Research unit (PERu), supporting both the Festival of Social Science and Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival.
