As part of the Blackboard Ultra Migration Project, we are offering both in-person and online staff development sessions to help build your knowledge and understanding of Blackboard Ultra. This three-year project aims to upgrade the University’s virtual learning environment (VLE) by helping you migrate modules from Blackboard Original to Ultra.
Since the start of April, the project team has delivered training sessions to over 190 staff members, covering topics such as how to migrate your content, how to structure your module and much more. The sessions are designed to be standalone experiences focusing on the key aspects, so you can join any session that interests you without prior knowledge of Blackboard Ultra.
Signing up to the sessions
There are still spaces available on the staff development sessions.
For the next academic year (September 2024) we are migrating the modules that first year students take. We strongly recommend those who work with foundation and year 1 modules (undergraduate) including programme courses and custom (arbitrary) modules to sign up as soon as possible.
Please visit the Staff Development Programme to understand what sessions are still available and how to sign up. You don’t need to attend all the sessions, but you are welcome to do so if you wish.
Feedback so far
The feedback from the sessions held so far has been overwhelmingly positive! Participants have praised the clarity, structure, and helpfulness of the training, making them feel confident in navigating Blackboard Ultra.
One participant said: “I thought it set a very inclusive and professional atmosphere – a great example of continuing professional development (CPD).”
The sessions also align to the Blackboard Universal Standards which focuses on improving our student experience through module identity, accessibility and more.
Additional sessions
Additional training sessions will be available from July 2024 including admin specific sessions. Please check out the Events calendar as sessions will be updated in the next few weeks.
Please visit the Blackboard Ultra SharePoint site where you can find out more information. If you have any questions, please contact the project team via [email protected].
