Opportunities to shape delivery of our strategy: Estates and Digital

Over the coming weeks, there will be a number of new opportunities for colleagues to share their thoughts on the development of two significant areas of our strategy, the Estates Master Plan and our Digital Strategic Plan. These areas are fundamental to the delivery of our ambitious strategy, providing the infrastructure to support the Triple Helix and creating outstanding environments for colleagues and students to work and study, whether physical or digital.

Giles Carden, Chief of staff and Chief Strategy Officer, commented: “With momentum building in the implementation of our strategy, it is very important we continue to consult and receive feedback on new, emerging activities. Estates and Digital are both working through  engagement plans and I encourage colleagues to participate over the coming weeks and months.”

The Estates Master Plan

Building on prior conversations about our Master Plan, this is a fresh opportunity to provide your input on the needs of our internal community in relation to our estate. In this first new wave of engagement, there will be locally hosted workshops across staff groups as well as the opportunity to provide input online. In the new academic year, an early version of the plan will then be made available to colleagues for comment. The final draft of the Master Plan will go to Council for a decision in late 2024.

The Digital Strategic Plan

Last summer, 200 people from across the institution considered what it would mean to be a ‘digital university’ and what it would take for Southampton to redesign its digital infrastructure over the next decade to transform the way we work and study. The output of this work is a draft Digital Strategic Plan, which expresses our ambition to be a university for the digital age, with students and staff empowered with the skills they need to embrace a digital future. Over the coming weeks there will be opportunities to review the draft Strategic Plan. In addition to a number of targeted engagement sessions, there will be the facility to email the project team with comments. The draft Plan will then be submitted to Council for approval in the summer.
