Develop your business ideas – upcoming enterprise opportunities

As summer approaches, get support with your business idea as you look towards your future. Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise have several opportunities available to help you develop and grow your business or business idea, through mentorship, funding, and more. Check out what’s available below.

Foundership Scheme 2024

The deadline to apply for the final round of the Foundership Scheme 2024 is midnight, Sunday 2 June. Don’t miss the chance to join like-minded individuals on the Foundership Scheme, to develop your business or business idea this summer.

You could be granted up to £3,000 in funding, receive regular mentoring sessions, and access to an office space in the brand-new Student Enterprise Junction in the heart of Southampton City Centre.

The Foundership Scheme includes:

  • 10-12 weeks of comprehensive workshops.
  • 12 weeks of dedicated mentorship and support.
  • Access to expert-led sessions and networking opportunities.
  • A dedicated workspace at the heart of Southampton city centre.

Whether you’re building a business, a social enterprise, or offering freelance services, we welcome all sectors and stages of development. Apply now to avoid missing out.

Student Enterprise Fund

Apply for the Student Enterprise Fund by midnight, Sunday 2 June. There are three pathways for you to apply to, each with different support and funding depending on your needs:

  • The Freelance Pathway can give you £500 or £1000 to kick-start or grow your freelance service and is suitable for students wanting to get started with launching a new or growing an existing freelance service.
  • The Start Pathway can give you £500 to kick start your business or social enterprise and is suitable for students wanting to further explore or validate an idea or get started with launching their business or social enterprise.
  • The Build Pathway can give you £1,000 or £2,000 towards building your business or social enterprise and is aimed at students who have validated their idea with customers and need essential funds to launch, build or accelerate their business.

If you study engineering or a related degree subject (such as computer or biomedical science), the Engineers in Business Competition awards prizes of £1,500, £1000, and £500 to the first, second, and third placed applicants of the Student Enterprise Fund Build Pathway.
