Staff are invited to attend a free conference, organised jointly by the Centre for the South at our University and the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), on the subject of rooftop solar panels.
The event takes place on Friday 14 June, 14:00 to 17:00, Room 2063 in the Sir James Matthews Building, Southampton. Please register on Eventbrite.
This event will be of particular interest to those specialising in sustainability and policy research. You could be an academic who gathers environmental data on the region and uses it to inform policy makers.
Outline of the conference:
- Showcase Southampton University research to encourage the mapping rooftop potential of the whole UK.
- Explore the potential of rooftop solar and its benefits for communities in Hampshire and Sussex.
- Advocate for a rooftop-first approach, prioritising ‘grey spaces’ over ‘green fields’.
- Engage decision-makers locally and nationally in thinking about the changes needed to deliver a rooftop revolution.
- Bring together stakeholders to feed into Local Area Energy Plans and collaborate on delivering rooftop solar projects in ‘hotspots’ in Hampshire and Sussex identified by the mapping.
