Happy Pride Month! This is a chance to honour the diversity, resilience, and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. We invite all staff, students, and members of our university to join in. Here are some key activities to look forward to:
Pride Reads 2024
The University Library is launching “Pride Reads 2024,” an initiative to fill our social media with your favourite LGBTQ+ reads. There are two ways to participate:
- Take a selfie with one of your favourite LGBTQ+ books and send the photo to [email protected].
- Post a selfie with your chosen book on your social media profile in June and share the link by tagging @unisotonlibrary.
LGBTQ+ books encompass a wide range of genres and topics, featuring LGBTQ+ characters, authors, and themes. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover new literature and celebrate the diversity of voices within our community. The library has also curated a reading list of LGBTQ+ voices to inspire your reading choices: LGBTQ+ Reading List.
Pride in the Park
“Pride in the Park” is a community event on the 8th and 9th of June at Hoglands Park. Enjoy two days of free entertainment, street food, and market stalls. It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Pride with the wider community.

Date: Saturday 8 – Sunday 9 June

We hope to see many of you at these events and encourage you to spread the word among your colleagues and peers. Let’s make this Pride Month a memorable and inclusive celebration for everyone at the University of Southampton.
