Last summer, 200 colleagues from across the institution considered what it would mean to be a ‘digital university’ and what it would take for Southampton to redesign its digital infrastructure over the next decade to transform the way we work and study.
The output of this work is a draft Digital Strategic Plan, which expresses our ambition to be a university for the digital age, with students and staff empowered with the skills they need to embrace a digital future.
We’re giving all staff the opportunity to review and comment on the draft as part of this process.
You can access the document here.
After you’ve read it, you can send any comments to [email protected]. All comments will be reviewed by the Digital Strategic Plan team and the executive sponsor, Professor Andrew Atherton.
Please submit any comments by 09:00 on Tuesday 25 June.
The final draft Strategic Plan will then be submitted to Council for approval later in the summer.
A 10-year programme of investment
If approved, the Strategic Plan would kickstart a 10-year programme of investment, and there will be many more opportunities for student and staff to shape this important work.
Much like investment in physical infrastructure, there will be a crucial period of planning, with time taken to build capacity and lay the foundations for future changes. A new team, led by Kelly Weber, will take this work forward and develop a digital delivery and governance model that ensures complex changes can be implemented efficiently and effectively.
We will share more information, including the final Digital Strategic Plan, in the autumn.
